Born in Kaduna in 1989, Umar M Shareef is a Hausa singer and producer in Kannywood, and he is also an actor. His music has long centered on romance and storytelling, which is why each new release from him gets a ready audience. “DADI” is his latest single, and it follows his eight-song album Soyayya Ta from late 2025.

The credits are clear. Shareef is credited as performer and composer, and Mahadi Grammer is listed as producer. Shazam lists the tempo at 120 beats per minute, a steady and comfortable pace, and platforms classify the track as pop. A moderate tempo gives a singer room to shape each phrase, and Shareef has built his reputation on exactly that kind of control.

The reasons for the attention are easy to see. “DADI” is his newest release, and Shazam has listed it as his top song of the week. On Audiomack, it has passed 260,000 plays since its release. Fans of Hausa music tend to move quickly toward a fresh Shareef single, and the numbers show that pattern again. If you are asking why “DADI” is trending, a new release from a trusted voice is the simplest answer.

After you hear it, go back through his earlier work. Albums such as Ni Da Ke, Farin Jini, Lokaci Yayi, and Soyayya Ta show how consistent his writing has been, and singles like “Khadeejah” and “Farko Da Karshe” make good companions to the new release.
