The title “SIDE” presents a simple but open-ended concept that can relate to loyalty, relationships, personal choices and the people who remain close during different stages of life. The song creates room for listeners to interpret its message through their own experiences. Its conversational quality makes the record accessible while maintaining an intimate musical atmosphere.

Musically, “SIDE” combines contemporary African rhythms with melodic and alternative elements. The production provides a smooth foundation for the vocals, allowing Dwin and The Stoic to express themselves without overwhelming the arrangement. The rhythmic groove keeps the track moving, while the melodic components add depth and give the record a relaxed listening quality.

Dwin’s performance establishes the central direction of “SIDE,” while The Stoic’s contribution brings a complementary vocal presence to the collaboration. The contrast between the two artists helps create variation throughout the song and gives the record a broader musical identity. Their collaboration demonstrates how different creative approaches can work together within a contemporary African sound.

The record also reflects the continued evolution of modern African music, where emerging artists are increasingly blending Afrobeats with alternative, R&B and other influences. This approach gives musicians more freedom to experiment with production, songwriting and vocal delivery. “SIDE” fits into this wider movement by focusing on atmosphere and melody alongside its rhythmic foundation.

Overall, “SIDE” by Dwin featuring The Stoic is a contemporary collaboration centred on rhythm, melody and personal expression. The combination of both artists’ performances gives the song a smooth and engaging character, while its open-ended theme allows listeners to connect with it in different ways.
