BNXN – Still In Charge

BNXN returns with Still In Charge, a six-track EP that captures the Nigerian singer-songwriter in a confident and focused phase of his 2026 run. Released on October 1, 2026, the project arrived through T.Y.E. and EMPIRE and features guest appearances from Asake and FOLA. The title immediately establishes the project’s central idea, while the compact tracklist gives BNXN enough room to explore different sides of his Afrofusion sound without stretching the project beyond its purpose.

The EP opens with Eja Meja, featuring Asake, setting an energetic tone before moving through songs such as Online, 16, Deliberate Work, Shamaya with FOLA, and If You Like. The sequence gives the project a mixture of melody, contemporary Afrobeats production and the vocal style that has helped establish BNXN as one of Nigeria’s recognizable Afrofusion voices. Rather than depending on a large number of collaborations, the singer remains at the center of the project, allowing his own songwriting and delivery to shape its identity.

One of the interesting elements of Still In Charge is the balance between introspection and confidence. Online, for example, addresses a period when BNXN had stepped away from social media, while 16 and Deliberate Work contribute to the project’s broader focus on personal direction and ambition. These records give listeners more than a collection of singles because they help establish the different moods surrounding the project. The result is a body of work that can move between relaxed listening and more energetic moments without losing its overall character.

The guest appearances are also used selectively. Asake brings his own distinctive presence to Eja Meja, while FOLA joins BNXN on Shamaya, giving the project additional vocal contrast. At the same time, most of the six-track EP remains centered on BNXN, which makes the project feel like a personal statement rather than a collaboration-heavy compilation. This approach allows listeners to hear how the singer’s melodic instincts work across different production styles.

The closing track, If You Like, brings the EP to a smoother finish. Pulse Nigeria described it as a relaxed, melody-first record with soft guitars that leave space for BNXN’s vocal phrasing. That softer ending provides a contrast to some of the more energetic moments earlier in the project and gives Still In Charge a measured conclusion.

With Still In Charge, BNXN delivers a concise project that reflects his current musical direction while keeping his voice at the center. The six-song format makes it easy to experience from beginning to end, while the combination of Afrofusion, Afrobeats melodies, personal themes and carefully selected collaborations gives listeners several entry points into the project. For followers of contemporary Nigerian music, it is another important chapter in BNXN’s 2026 catalog.
