BNXN & FOLA – Shamaya

BNXN and FOLA join forces on Shamaya, one of the standout collaborations from BNXN’s six-track Still In Charge EP. Released on October 1, 2026, the project also features Asake on its opening track, Eja Meja, while Shamaya gives FOLA a prominent role alongside BNXN. The song brings together two Nigerian voices for a confident and playful record built around personality, melody and contemporary Afrobeats energy.

The chemistry between the two artists is one of the song’s most noticeable qualities. FOLA takes an early lead before BNXN enters with his own melodic delivery, creating a back-and-forth that gives the record movement. Their performances are different enough to provide contrast, yet they fit naturally within the same production. The result is a collaboration that feels deliberately designed around the strengths of both artists.

Shamaya carries a playful atmosphere built around attraction, confidence, style and larger-than-life self-expression. The song moves between English and Yoruba, giving it a distinctly Nigerian character while allowing the central refrain to remain easy to recognize. This mixture of language and personality helps the track maintain an energetic identity without becoming overly complicated.

BNXN uses the record to highlight another side of his versatility. While his catalog frequently moves between Afrofusion, R&B-influenced melodies and Afrobeats, Shamaya gives him an opportunity to lean further into swagger and playful confidence. FOLA, meanwhile, brings an energetic vocal presence that helps establish the mood from the opening sections of the song.

The production is equally important to the track’s character. The arrangement leaves space for the vocal exchanges and recurring hook, allowing the song to build its identity around repetition and memorable phrases rather than a complicated structure. That approach makes Shamaya particularly suited to social listening and playlists focused on contemporary Nigerian Afrobeats and Afropop.

As part of Still In Charge, Shamaya also contributes to the broader picture of where BNXN is taking his sound in 2026. The song demonstrates how he can move comfortably between introspective material and more carefree, stylish records. With FOLA providing an important collaborative presence, Shamaya becomes one of the project’s more energetic moments and another example of the creative direction surrounding BNXN’s latest release.
